Standard we aim for
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. This is a target we work towards continuously rather than a certification we hold.
What we have done
- A skip link to the main content on every page.
- Semantic landmarks, one heading-one level structure, and labelled navigation.
- Visible focus outlines and a minimum 44×44px target size for controls.
- Full right-to-left support for the Arabic edition.
- Respect for the prefers-reduced-motion setting, including a control to stop the headline ticker.
- Text that reflows without horizontal scrolling down to 320px wide.
Known limitations
- Headlines supplied by third-party news APIs may carry images without useful alternative text. We fall back to the headline where none is provided.
- Some advertising is served by Google and rendered inside a frame we do not control.
Reporting a barrier
If something on this site stops you reading it, please tell us through the contact page and describe what happened and what you were using. We treat accessibility reports as bugs, not suggestions, and aim to respond within five working days.
